Majors & Pathways
Kellogg’s approach to majors and pathways gives our students the flexibility and guidance they need to create an academic experience that fits their career goals.
As a Part-Time MBA student, you’ll start with courses in general management
that provide a solid business foundation. Next, select from higher level electives that speak to your career & personal goals.
Kellogg does not require students to select a major.
Instead, students have the ability to customize their own intellectual journey through our optional majors and pathways. Majors offer a structured approach to understanding a specific discipline. Pathways are a new offering which take a cross-disciplinary approach to understanding a specific topic. Enjoy full flexibility: you may choose to bypass majors and pathways or explore several of each. Our Part-Time MBA academic advisor is available to help students determine the right path to reach his or her goals.
Kellogg’s majors mirror our academic departments. To qualify for a major, you must first take the major’s core course and then complete four electives in the subject area. If you choose not to elect a major, "General Management" will be noted on your transcript.
As an Evening student, if you elect to pursue a major, you may choose from the following:
Saturday Program students may choose from the following three majors:
- Managing Organizations
Kellogg also provides pathways, sequences of courses that serve as a guide to students who want to hone a specific skill set or industry expertise. Cross-functional and integrative by nature, pathways enable students to build knowledge in emerging areas and evolving industries for which there is student and recruiter demand. Pursue any number of pathways and dive as deeply as you like into each.
Current pathways under development include a diversity of topics, including:
- Data Analytics
- Entrepreneurship and New Ventures
- Healthcare Enterprise Management
- Real Estate
- Scaling Businesses
- Social Impact
