Kellogg’s programs help women succeed throughout their careers

Women now make up more than half of the incoming classes in the top U.S. universities, but still only a small fraction of CEOs, board directors, NGOs and government leaders. While we’re now getting women into the game in equal numbers, we’re not yet getting them through to the top. At Kellogg, we’ve identified three critical pivot points (Launch, Mid-Career Marathon and Executive Transition) where women face issues that are unique culturally and biologically and developed concrete programs and crucial support for each of these pivot points.

Launching your career

Launching your career

We continue to see an increase in women among our degree-program applicant pool and student body. Kellogg’s Class of 2021 has 43% women. For our enrolled female students, we offer: the Full-Time Women's Business Association, Evening & Weekend Women’s Business Association, the Full-Time Women's Leadership Program and EMBA Women Leadership Workshops, which are designed to support our female students at every point of their Kellogg journey and encompasses lectures, alumnae panels and guest speakers. Combined, these programs help ensure our female students are equipped to thrive in their careers – intellectually, practically and emotionally – for years to come.

Additionally, we partner with the Forte Foundation, a non-profit organization that empowers women to pursue careers in business. The partnership includes networking opportunities, panel discussions and workshops. Also Kellogg’s full-time program female applicants are eligible to be selected for a ForteFellows scholarship.

Navigating the mid-career marathon

Kellogg’s Executive MBA and Evening & Weekend Program is often attended by women in the pivot point of the mid-career marathon, often juggling school, career and growing non-career commitments. Starting in 2018, we are pleased to offer select female prospective students the Drake Scholarship thanks to the generous support of EMBA alumna, Ms. Ann Drake, class of 1984 with the intent to remove the financial burden that weighs on many future female leaders during their prime career years and allow them to focus on their studies and their future. The Drake Scholars award will be based on the merits of a candidate’s application and potential as a leader.

We offer a variety of resources to all Kellogg alumnae through our Career Management Center, including free alumni professional-development coaching and mentoring. Another resource is the Kellogg Executive Women's Network, which was founded to create opportunities to connect women professionally and personally, nurture growth and leadership and encourage alumnae to provide support for one another.

Leading across the organization

Kellogg's Center for Executive Women was launched in 2001 to help senior-level women advance to top executive and board positions. Specific programs within the Kellogg Center for Executive Women include the Women's Senior Leadership Program which equips women with the knowledge and tools needed to elevate themselves to the C-suite and beyond, and the Women's Director Development Program which trains women to effectively serve on the boards of Fortune 1000 companies.

Influenced by the contributions of thousands of Kellogg alumnae, this book offers unique insights on the core developmental goals women need to pursue at each career Pivot Point in order to maintain a career trajectory that would enable them to rise to the C-suite and board room.

At Kellogg, we have a long history of launching strong women into the C-suite. This includes the first female CEOs of some of the world’s largest corporations, the youngest female chair of the NAACP and the first female dean at a top 10 global business school.
