May is the annual celebration of Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Month, when the United States observes and recognizes the contributions of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islander Americans in the country’s history. 

Throughout this month, our campus is buzzing with an array of events and initiatives designed to honor and commemorate the invaluable impact of AAPI individuals throughout the Kellogg community. Asia Week is one of the hallmark celebrations that takes place during this time.  

The Asian American Association (AMA), one of the four Asian-affiliated student groups at Kellogg, spearheads Asia Week, a weeklong series of social, cultural and professional events. The week typically culminates with an Asian food festival co-hosted with other groups including South Asia Club, Southeast Asia Club and the Greater China Club.

Sunday, May 19 — AMA x PAWS dog cafe  

Kick off Asia Week with AMA and Kellogg Paws for a pop-up dog café experience! All pet owners and pet lovers are welcome to join. Visit Campus Groups for more information. 

Monday, May 20 — Desserts after dark 

Come enjoy a variety of delightful desserts after dark with AMA friends! Desserts may include boba, mochi, assorted cakes and biscuits. Connect with the AMA for sign-up information. 

K-Pop dance workshop: Groupwerk x AMA 

Unleash your inner K-Pop superstar with Groupwerk and AMA! Ever found yourself dancing along to BLACKPINK’s electrifying moves and wished you could join in? Now’s your chance! Tuesday, May 21 — AMA x Greater China Club: Calligraphy experience 

Emma Shi ’24 Two-Year MBA Program will lead a workshop on learning the art of Chinese calligraphy. Visit Campus Groups for registration.

Hear My Story: Asia Week x InspirAsian 

Join the AMA to hear personal stories told monologue style from four AMA club members and students in the Two-Year MBA Program: Nikita Bhatia ’24, Jingjie (JJ) Li ’24, Cherry Tran ’24 and Karl Wang ’25

Frequently described as the Kellogg experience people wish they’d known about earlier, Hear My Story is a storytelling initiative, housed within the DEI committee of the Kellogg Student Association and co-sponsored by student clubs. It brings together storytellers from across Kellogg who share personal stories to educate; build awareness and empathy; foster authentic, meaningful connections and strengthen the Kellogg community. Visit Campus Groups for registration. 

Wednesday, May 22: AMA gift-giving theory workshop with Professor Gina Fong 

Professor Gina Fong will host a consumer insight workshop and dive into its real-life application. Lunch will be provided. Visit Campus Groups for registration. 

Thursday, May 23 — Breaking into media, sports & entertainment as Asian Americans (panel discussion)

Join AMA for a focused panel discussion exploring how to break into and thrive in the media, sports and entertainment space as well as the challenges and opportunities Asians in America face in these industries.

Panelists include Kellogg alumni Zohere Tabrez ’22 MBA, senior director of executive operations at the Denver Broncos NFL team, and Harry Eun ’20 MBA, director of business operations at Madison Square Garden. Visit Campus Groups for registration. 


Friday, May 24 — Asia Week TG 

Join Games Club and AMA at TG for Skuid Games, a series of riveting competitive games based on the hit tv show with special performance by Groupwerk! Connect with the AMA for sign-up information.

Kellogg South Asia Club brings Holi to campus 

Kellogg South Asia Club (KSAC) for bringing #Holi to campus. The Hindu festival of colors marks the beginning of spring after a long winter, symbolic of the triumph of good over evil.
