    This fall, seven tenure-line faculty members join the Kellogg School of Management, further enriching the departments of marketing, finance, management and organizations, operations management and managerial economics.

    The new professors complement the Kellogg School faculty by adding a diverse range of research expertise, including growth and behavioral economics, financial development, entrepreneurial finance, structural transformation, technological innovation, social influence on consumer decision making, and more.

    Previous professorship: Samuel C Park, Jr. Professor of Economics, Yale University

    Research: Professor Karlan’s research primarily employs randomized trials to study household and entrepreneurial finance and behavioral economics, with a focus on financial inclusion for the poor.

    Nancy Qian, Professor of Managerial Economics
    & Decision Sciences

    Research Focus

    Professor Youn’s research focuses on building a theoretical framework for interplay between technological innovation and human society, a mechanism to scale from individual behaviors to human society. The underlying question focuses on how technological innovation shapes, and is shaped by, the structure of our society. Her mathematical and computational approach involves network science, scaling theory, information theory, data mining and machine learning algorithms, analyzing large-scale empirical data (patent, academic biography, digital text, occupation and industry).
