Welcoming the Class of 2027: A community of high achievers
By Emily Haydon
Assistant Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid
Over the past weeks, Kellogg’s Global Hub has come alive with the energy of our newest students as they begin their journey in the Two-Year MBA Program. As we welcome the Class of 2027, I’m proud to share a glimpse into the remarkable individuals who now call Kellogg home.
Each year, our admissions team undertakes a holistic review process to identify future Kellogg Leaders — those who demonstrate a rare blend of analytical, creative and social intelligence. This year’s class exemplifies that standard, bringing with them impressive academic credentials and professional accomplishments and a shared commitment to making a meaningful impact.
Academic excellence powered by multifaceted backgrounds
The Class of 2027 continues Kellogg’s tradition of academic excellence. With an average GMAT Focus score of 687, this cohort reinforces the rigorous academic standards that define our community.
Growing to 534 students, the Class of 2027 reflects both the exceptional caliber of candidates drawn to Kellogg and the market’s continued confidence in the transformative power of a Kellogg MBA.
This year’s students come from a wide range of academic disciplines and professional sectors. They bring experience from industries including consulting, technology and healthcare, with 24% coming from financial services — the highest since 2021 and up from 18% last year. A record 41% hold undergraduate degrees in STEM fields. At Kellogg, they'll have the opportunity to build on this foundation through hands-on experiential learning and innovative courses, including new offerings in AI and machine learning. These experiences will further develop their analytical skills and prepare them for careers in a business environment experiencing rapid technological change.
We’re also proud to share that 9% are U.S. military veterans, a record high and a 3 percentage-point increase from last year. This follows the announcement of the Matt Caldwell Veterans Program, which will support former military members in their transition to business leadership. Resources for veterans at Kellogg include scholarship support, career education, networking with other veterans, job interview preparation and more.
Meet our students: Stories that inspire
Beyond the numbers, the Class of 2027 is defined by the character and impact of its members. Here are just a few of the individuals who have already made a mark:
- Margaret is a vice president at a venture capital firm and held prior roles in private equity and investment banking. After graduation, she hopes to work at a consumer health startup and eventually launch her own venture in the health services field.
- Adam is a West Point graduate and former U.S. Army officer, who was known among his peers as an outstanding leader for his communication and compassion. During his service, he created a logistics movement plan that mobilized 4,000 people and 1,300 pieces of equipment. He aspires to work in consulting and use his Mandarin language skills to help companies enter the Chinese market.
- Ellie, a Finance Fellow, brings her experience as a senior investment associate at Cambridge Associates where she focused on impact investing. She hopes to pursue venture capital and growth equity following her time at Kellogg.
- Janki, from India, is the head of global operations at an edtech company and hopes to use her MBA experience to shift into consulting and eventually launch her own venture. Her career accomplishments include launching a program that empowered more than 5,000 lower-income students with financial insights and career guidance.
- Nick will be a Hawryluk Scholar and brings his experience as a computer science graduate and systems developer in the defense industry. He hopes to use his Kellogg experience to one day work at the intersection of healthcare and AI.
- Shannen, an Austin Scholar, is a consultant with Bain who plans to return to consulting post-MBA. She is a professional volleyball coach and recently had an externship with the United States Tennis Association.
Their stories reflect the collaborative spirit and leadership potential that define the Kellogg experience.
