Grocery Delivery in the US: Trying to Bag Profits

Abstract

In 2020, Webvan founder Louis Borders announced his second try at the online grocery business with Home Delivery Service, which he predicted would succeed based on its use of advanced technology, including an army of robots to assemble online orders. "There are plenty of online groceries being delivered, but the service levels are low and the fees are high," said Borders. "The industry is kind of up for grabs right now."

I've always been attracted to really big problems, and this has been a really big problem for a long time," he continued. "And here it is still today, not really solved."
