Don’t think Betsy Ziegler, chief innovation officer at Kellogg, hasn’t noticed the chatter about the collective disruption of business schools.Ziegler has news for the naysayers: Business schools are more relevant than ever and will continue to transform and evolve alongside students, businesses and other stakeholders in the business environment.
Ziegler explained her position to a crowd of deans, accreditation coordinators, department chairs and faculty at the 2015 Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) Accreditation Conference, held Sept. 21 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers.
“Business schools teach two things better than anybody else in the world. We teach students how to build strong organizations and we teach students how to leverage the power of markets,” she said. “I believe our collective clarity of purpose is to educate and equip the next generation of leaders.”
Ziegler continued the discussion with John Byrne, founder and chief executive of C-Change Media, which publishes PoetsandQuants.com. Byrne is also the former editor-in-chief of Fast Company & BusinessWeek.
