Call for Papers

We invite researchers to submit papers that use computational techniques to further social science. We hope to see papers and panels on topics covered in the top journals in sociology recognized by the American Sociological Association. We are especially interested in papers covering the following:
  • Practicing sociological research in industry
  • Computer-assisted text analysis
  • Network analysis
  • Large-scale experiments
  • Causal inference and computational methods
  • Technology studies, ethnographic investigation of computational research
  • Reproducible research
  • Practical problems in computational sociology
  • The ethics of computational research on human behavior
  • Infrastructure to facilitate industry/academic cooperation
  • Being a minority in the tech world

Faculty, graduates students, industry researchers, policy makers, and non-profit workers are all encouraged to submit data-driven research for consideration. Wholly constituted panels will receive priority consideration.

To submit an individual paper, please prepare a title, abstract of no more than 500 words, list of 5 keywords, brief methods overview, and a list of authors and their affiliations.

To submit a panel proposal, please provide a synopsis of the main research questions the panel will collectively address with a section dedicated to methodological approaches and issues and a list of 5 keywords for the panel. Additionally, please provide paper titles, keywords, abstracts of no more than 500 words for each of three or four papers, and author information for each paper.

The Computational Sociology Summit encourages submissions from women, people of color, members of the LGBTQ community and people with disabilities.
