Matt is a Donald P. Jacobs Scholar at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, starting in July 2025. Previously, he served as the Silverman (1968) Family Career Development Assistant Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management. His research examines the intersection of accounting, financial reporting, and debt markets, with a particular focus on syndicated lending and commercial debt contracting. His work has been accepted for publication in leading accounting journals such as The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, and Journal of Accounting Research. Matt’s research has been presented at prominent institutions, including the Federal Reserve, Securities and Exchange Commission, and Financial Stability Board.
He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Florida and previously worked as a senior auditor at Ernst & Young. Matt earned his Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Miami.
