Key Dates and Application

Exchange applications will be done in two rounds. If a student is highly interested in a particular school(s), we recommend that he or she apply during Round 1. We cannot guarantee that all partner schools will have spaces available for Round 2. Typically, several schools close during Round 1.

Note: Students interested in studying abroad during Fall 2019 must apply during Round 1.

Application Process

Students may apply to a maximum of 3 schools per round. Each application will be considered on its own merit in comparison with the other applications for that particular school. Applying to multiple schools does not affect a student’s chances of being assigned to their first choice.

Please do not underestimate the importance of the two essay questions. They can be very important in determining inclusion in the exchange program.

Please complete the following steps all in direct sequence:
  • Step 1: Complete the Exchange Application Survey *
  • Step 2: Submit application materials as an email attachment to Global Programs at exchangeprogram@kellogg.northwestern.edu
The application survey will be activated 1 week prior to the application deadline. This helps cut down on duplicate submissions in the event applicants forget they have already completed the survey or they change their mind about which programs they want to apply for.

Materials for Submission

Please submit one document for each school* (Word/PDF) you are applying to containing the following:
  1. Resume
  2. Essay 1 (2-page maximum) - General Essay**
