The Hope Center

Join us on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM for a meaningful morning of service at The Hope Center in Blue Island. Together, we'll help address food insecurity in one of Chicagoland's recognized food deserts by harvesting fresh vegetables for local families, winterizing our gardens, and preparing our greenhouse with fresh mulch. This is a family-friendly event! Volunteers of all ages are welcome to help with gardening projects, create and decorate garden signs, and learn about sustainable urban agriculture. If weather moves us indoors, we'll support our hydroponics, aquaponics, and Makers Kitchen by cleaning equipment and preparing our food production spaces for the upcoming harvest. Doors open at 8:00 AM with complimentary coffee and pan dulce before we begin our service projects. After serving, we'll continue the fellowship with a complimentary lunch from 12:00–1:00 PM on site at The Hope Center. Come ready to serve, connect with fellow Kellogg alumni, and grow hope together.

Sarah's Circle

Join us Saturday, October 10, 2026 to prepare and serve lunch to the women of Sarah’s Circle. Sarah’s Circle is a Chicago organization helping women who face homelessness. Their vision is a safe and secure home for every woman in Chicago. We need volunteers to prepare food in advance for up to 50 women and deliver the morning of the event. We also need a maximum of 7 volunteers to heat, prep and serve the meal to the women of Sarah’s Circle. We will assist in cleaning dishes after service. Please register to cook and/or serve. Include your t-shirt size, and preferred email address. If you are volunteering to cook, you will be directed to a Google sheet to sign up for a dish. Volunteer at our Howl-O-Ween Harvest Festival! This fun, family-friendly event includes fun for all ages including face painting, spooky crafts, trick-or-treating and more! Volunteers will help with general event assistance including assisting with crafts, face painting, monitoring the pumpkin patch, leading SmartBoard activities, and other duties as assigned. Volunteers select their shift when registering. NOTE: The first shift of volunteers will be responsible for training the 2nd shift of volunteers. Volunteers will have the opportunity to interact in both group and 1:1 formats to coach and advise underprivileged first generation university students and recent graduates who have come from low income families from Tier 3 or Tier 4 cities across China. Volunteers can be expected to provide valuable academic and career advice and suggestions to these students and have a direct chance to have face to face interactions with these underrepresented student group together with other Kellogg alumni.
