Alumni-Student Connections Program
Make an impact on the next generation of Kellogg leaders
When you opt-in to the ASC program, you join the growing body of Kellogg alumni giving back by giving their time. By offering insights to MBA students exploring career paths in their industry, Kellogg ASC advisors can plug in to the Kellogg community, support developing Kellogg leaders, and grow their professional network.
30-minute meetings, 3 hours a month, 3-day response time
Commit to as little as 3 hours a month to support our students. Opting-in as an ASC advisor allows students to find you in the Career Management System (CMS) and send requests to arrange a 30-minute virtual meeting. All you have to do is respond to student requests within 3 business days when your ASC advisor account is turned on.
Your terms, their initiative
All conversations are student directed. Just log in to the Career Management System (CMS) to accept or decline your requests from students. Once you've accepted a request, the student will reach out to share their resume and arrange a meeting at a time that is mutually convenient, though you can view student profiles and resumes in advance if you wish.
Getting Started
-
If you are a Kellogg alum and wish to join the ASC program, please complete this interest form. Since we are currently in the initial phase of this new platform, we will reach out with more information when the program goes fully live for all alumni.
Please note that creating a new profile may take up to 3 business days from when you complete the interest form.
-
Log in to the Career Management System (CMS) to access your profile and manage your ASC requests. Select “alumni log-in” and navigate to the ASC Program module to view your ASC program dashboard.
Editing your ASC profile
Your profile will be created by Kellogg staff when you enter the program using the information you provide in your interest/intake form. To edit your profile, navigate to your profile by clicking on your name at the bottom of the left-navigation. Then select fields in your profile:
- Review your profile to ensure that everything is correct. Students will receive ASC advisor “smart matches” from CMS based on these selections. Note: the system offers an option to integrate your profile in CMS with your LinkedIn profile. Please DO NOT use the LinkedIn integration feature, as it may override key data in your profile, which a staff member will need to resolve.
- Edit your interest field. Students will see this when they view your profile in CMS.
Please note that creating a profile may take up to 3 business days from when you complete your interest form and all edits to your profile must be approved by a system administrator (up to 3 business days to complete).
-
When your account is turned on, you will receive requests via email from students who want to connect. You can click accept or decline. Once accepted, the student will then email you to set up a 30-minute appointment at a mutually convenient time.
Accepting or declining student requests
You can accept or decline student requests by either:
- Logging in and navigating to: ASC Program --> Manage
- Responding to the request sent directly to your email. Click “accept” or “decline” in the body of the email to accept or decline the request. All program notifications will be sent to the preferred email address listed in your CMS profile.
Viewing/managing your current ASC connections
Log in to CMS and select the ASC Program module. From this dashboard you can view all current and past connections from the program.
Snoozing your profile (students can’t contact you)
Snoozing your profile will allow you to remove your profile from the ASC program module in CMS for up to 90 days. To snooze your profile:
- Log in to CMS and select the ASC Program module.
- Select “snooze” and select the time period.
OR
- Select any of the snooze options in the body of any email request you receive from a student.
ASC Connection and Pending Request Limits
The system has controls in place to protect your time and ensure that you do not receive more requests than you can respond to.
- ASC advisors can have up to 3 pending requests at a time.
- ASC advisors can have up to 3 active ASC connections (accepted requests) at a time. o ASC advisors are expected to respond within 3 days. After 5 days, requests will expire and you will no longer be able to respond.
- If you have hit your limit of active ASC connection requests, you will not be discoverable until an active ASC connection expires.
If you wish to opt out of student requests for any period of time, you can snooze your account so that students do not see your profile for a set period of time.
Removing your ASC Advisor Membership
If you can no longer participate in the ASC program, please email asc@kellogg.northwestern.edu and we will remove your ASC advisor profile from the Career Management System.
-
Students are required to send a pdf of their resume with all ASC requests. You can view the resume they send to you or view their profile by navigating to “Students and Alumni” in the left navigation of CMS.
-
We ask that you commit as little as 3 hours a month and respond to student connection requests within 3 days response time. If you cannot meet this commitment for any reason at any time, we only ask that you snooze your account so that students do not see your profile.
