At Kellogg, we honor and learn from the vibrant mosaic of Asian American and Pacific Islander voices shaping the future of business.

Hear from Kellogg students who are members of the Greater China Club (GCC) as they share reflections on their cultural pride during this time of the year dedicated to celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

GCC aims to build a supportive and dynamic community for students from Greater China, and students who are interested in the culture and business of this region.

“I am deeply proud of my Chinese heritage — a rich tapestry woven through 5,000 years of history and marked by numerous innovations that continue to influence the daily lives of people around the world.

“At Kellogg, I embrace my role as a cultural bridge builder. I strive to engage my peers in exploring Chinese culture from learning about traditional festivals to enjoying authentic Chinese cuisine. I also actively share insights on China's current advancements, such as the rapid development of electric vehicles and the dynamic transformation of the real estate industry. These discussions not only illuminate China's current landscape but also challenge prevailing stereotypes and media portrayals allowing me to offer a nuanced perspective.

“I see the immense value of this type of exchange. Beyond the academic enrichment of classroom case discussions, it fosters meaningful friendships among students from diverse backgrounds and broadens our collective worldview, making our Kellogg community richer and more connected.”

“Growing up in Beijing, I developed a strong sense of pride in being Chinese. China's rapid development from technological innovations to urban modernization reflects our values of resilience, continuous improvement and social responsibility.

“At Kellogg, this heritage is evident in the close-knit community among Chinese students. The Greater China Club isn't just about activities — it's a support system where second-years generously spend significant time helping first-year students with recruitment and adjusting to school life.

“We also share our culture with others through events like ‘Taste of Kellogg’ and the Mid-Autumn Festival celebration showcasing our traditions and fostering cultural exchange within the Kellogg community.”

“One of the aspects I've most enjoyed at Kellogg is not just sharing my own heritage and culture but also learning from others. My favorite events are the various cultural nights, including Filipino Night, Brazilian BBQ and the Korean Lunar New Year Dinner. These events offer a fantastic opportunity to experience cultural diversity.

“As a member of the Greater China Club, I have also been involved in promoting Chinese culture. During the Chinese New Year, we organized themed dinners in small groups, inviting people to immerse themselves in Chinese traditions. We plan to continue creating immersive cultural experiences to further promote Chinese culture in the next academic year.”
