This four-day workshop will showcase frontiers in the application of reinforcement learning (RL) algorithms to topics central to operations.
Day one will be spent getting everyone up to speed on the basics. Each of the subsequent three days will be devoted to specific applications of RL in operations problems. The mornings will be devoted to the theory behind a particular application followed by interactive lab sessions in the afternoons, where participants will have the opportunity to code up the algorithms themselves. The target audience is intended to be a researcher in operations with little to no experience in actually coding and implementing the RL algorithms.

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) maintains an extensive system of elevated trains (also known as “the L”) and buses throughout Chicago and Evanston. The train stop closest to Kellogg is the Purple Line Foster stop on Church and Davis Streets. The 201 bus departs from the Howard St. terminal and stops on the corner of Foster and Sheridan.
Be advised, while inexpensive, taking the CTA from the airport can take up to 90 minutes and requires transferring trains.
Anton Braverman joined the Operations group at Kellogg in 2017. He completed his PhD in Operations Research from Cornell University, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Toronto. Anton's research is focused on stochastic modelling and applied probability. Some application domains of interest include ridesharing services, as well as healthcare operations.
