Introduction, Course Description and Prerequisites

This page is for Professor Sapienza's Corporate Finance Course (Fin 441). It will supplement the material in the packet. It will also contain materials which were not available when the packet was copied.

Finance II is the second course in the finance sequence. Prior to taking this course you should have mastered the material in Finance I (Fin 430). By now you should understand the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM), portfolio theory, and the basics of capital budgeting. Finance II will expand your knowledge of capital budgeting, will include an introduction to options, and will cover dividend policy and capital structure.

The material from Finance I is obviously a prerequisite for this course. Students with previous academic experience in Finance may choose to waive out of Finance I. The following link describes in detail waiver instructions. In addition you should have mastered the material from Financial Accounting (Accounting 430), Microeconomics (Microeconomics 430), Statistics (Decision Science 434, 437, or equivalent).

Class material

All students should obtain a course packet. It contains cases, lecture notes, and course readings that are not available on this web page.

The next two links describe in detail the codes of etiquette and honor that all participants in FIN 441 are expected to follow. More on how these agreements apply to FIN 441 will be discussed on the first day of class
