Case Assignment Files

This webpage contains downloadable files which may be useful in your case analyses. I recommend that you work in groups of up to six people when solving the case. Case write-ups are due at the beginning of class on the day that we discuss the case in class. In your write-up, please assume that I've read the case and know the relevant facts. It may help to think of your target audience as a manager that has a good intuitive grasp of corporate finance but has forgotten some of the underlying theory. Please keep your write-ups concise. You should try to limit the write-up to between 3 and 5 pages of text plus supporting exhibits. Remember, qualitative considerations are as important as quantitative ones.

    • Case Exhibits. Exhibits 2 and 4. I have changed the equity beta for UST from 1.1 to 0.8 in this spreadsheet. This way it is consistent with Exhibit 4 as well as the text of the case. If you are unsure of how some of the numbers in Exhibit 4 are calculated, you can look at the formulas in the spreadsheet.
    • Creditstats in the packet is unreadable -- some of the pluses look like minuses. Enclosed is a pdf version of the handout
