Ray Fan (B): An Entrepreneur’s Journey through Acquisition
Abstract
A year after purchasing a multi-clinic dermatology practice and dermatopathology lab, Ray Fan had gone from being a newly minted MBA grad who had never managed more than two people to managing more than 50 people and operating a business that handled 50,000 patient visits annually. He spent his first few months on a listening tour, meeting every employee and doctor, diving deep into the company's financials, understanding each person's role, learning about existing protocols and processes, and building trust with his employees and clinicians. Now that he had months of experience observing the operation from the inside out, Fan had to evaluate and prioritize potential opportunities that could spur growth for the business.
