Big Med: Megaproviders and the High Cost of American Healthcare
Author(s)
Large healthcare systems dominate the U.S. medical landscape. Systems were supposed to transform medical delivery, and, in the process, achieve the triple aim of lower costs, improved quality, and enhanced population health. By all metrics, they have failed. In this book, two leading health management scholars draw on economic and sociology research to address the key questions facing healthcare providers: How did large systems come to dominate the landscape? Why have they failed to achieve the triple aim? Where do we go from here? How can we do better?
