This study examines the opportunity for Turkey to serve as a medical tourism destination for the US. Specific emphasis is placed on the execution model that proposes how Turkey and its hospitals can compete against leading competitors in Thailand and India. Turkey’s potential comparative advantages will be examined, with particular consideration for the current advances and specializations in Turkish hospitals. Recommendations will be provided for creating “Centers of Excellence” that Turkish medical facilities should explore to attract Americans and patients from other countries. Medical tourism creates economic efficiencies by matching customers that could not otherwise afford care to hospitals with available supply. The study will look in detail at achieving this efficiency for US consumers and Turkish medical providers through increased medical tourism.
