Islam and Economics
Author(s)
Most of the world is familiar with neoclassical economics and its observation that free markets usually bring about the most efficient allocation of resources. Islam is actively concerned with matters not just of faith but of politics and economics also. Its basic tenets stress justice and equity. This book looks at Islam's beginnings, its approach to trade and markets, how these developed historically, and where they stand today. Our understanding of Islam and of the economic behavior of Muslims throughout history finds no fundamental conflict with neoclassical economics.
