Our paper examines the importance of bundling for the evolution of the PC office software market. Using a discrete choice model of product differentiation, our empirical results suggest that word processors and spreadsheets are strong complements, consumer preferences over word processors and spreadsheets are positively correlated, and there are economies of scope for these products. These factors provide incentives for firms to bundle these products.
