Over the course of his 30-year career, John has played a leading role in nearly every aspect of private company activity and family office investing.  He has structured transactions as a lawyer, improved operations and developed strategy as a management consultant, started companies as an entrepreneur, lead management teams as a CEO, governed enterprises as a Board Member, advised families regarding their investments, and deployed family office capital as an investor. 

He is the Founder and Managing Partner of Marjo Investments LLC, a private family holding company focused on investing in and actively governing private companies with other family offices.  During the last 10 years, John has led or co-led investments in companies with an aggregate enterprise value of more than $1.5 billion.  John also serves as a Senior Managing Director of Prospect Park LLC, a private merchant bank launched by a Chicago-based family office. Prior to founding Marjo Investments, John was the co-founder and Managing Partner of McNally Capital LLC, where he oversaw the firm’s investment and private capital activities. Previously, John led a significant division at Hewlett-Packard, served as CEO of Brigade (a General Atlantic Partners portfolio company based in Hyderabad, India), and served as a senior associate with the consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton and as an associate with the law firm Latham & Watkins. 

John sits on a variety of private company boards, serves as a Senior Advisor to two family offices based in Indonesia and India, and is an Affiliate Partner at Lindsay Goldberg.  John is a Trustee and Investment Committee member of The Newberry Library and serves as an Adjunct Professor and founding member of the Family Office program at Indiana University - Bloomington School Law, from which he received a J.D.  He received his B.A. in Economics and History from Northwestern University.
