Anthony Hrusovsky
Anthony Hrusovsky is a Partner and Chief Investment Officer at Mavrek, a Chicago-based Development firm. Over the course of his career, Mr. Hrusovsky has been involved in developments across major U.S. markets, focusing on transformative urban developments that contribute to neighborhood growth and revitalization.
At Mavrek, Mr. Hrusovsky oversees the full lifecycle of the firm’s development efforts, from sourcing and acquisition to capitalization and disposition. He led the execution of The Saint Grand, a $136 million luxury high-rise in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood, and is actively managing a pipeline of over $300 million in development projects. In addition, he is responsible for expanding the firm’s institutional partnerships and investment platform.
Prior to joining Mavrek, Mr. Hrusovsky spent seven years at Sterling Bay, where he led over $1 billion in ground-up development efforts across Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, and San Diego. His work involved close collaboration with capital partners on the planning and entitlement of more than 3.5 million square feet of office, residential, and hotel space, including over 600 residential units and 480 hotel keys. He began his career at Solomon Cordwell Buenz, where he focused on the design of large-scale multifamily projects. Last year, Mr. Hrusovsky was named to Crain’s 40 Under 40: Class of 2024.
Mr. Hrusovsky earned degrees in architecture from the University of Michigan and a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He resides in Lake Bluff with his family and is an active member of the Chicago real estate community.

Taught by experienced real estate practitioners, this course introduces students to the dynamics of real estate development in the United States using examples and methodologies from past and current real estate projects. The creation of value and risks common to the development of real estate as well as leadership, decision making, financing, budgeting and marketing will be central themes running through the course. Students gain a thorough understanding of real estate development, from the inception of an idea to the design and construction of income-producing real estate. The student will also learn the importance and need for sustainable, environmentally sound development. The course will cover a number of actual real estate developments that the instructors have managed and will use case studies to illustrate each week's topic. Course materials include a real estate development textbook. Basic spreadsheet modeling skills required.
