Procedure for Proposal Presentations

1. At least two weeks before the date of your proposal, please send the following information to PhD Program Director, Susan Jackman:

  • Scheduled date, time, and location (room number) for your proposal
  • Title of proposal or presentation
  • List of committee members, noting who your chair is

David Dranove, Faculty Director of the PhD Program, approves of all committees. Once Susan has his approval, she'll process the paperwork for your proposal and give the forms to your committee chair. To pass the proposal, signatures are required from your proposal committee members. The signature form is returned to Susan Jackman for processing.

2. Please refer to your Finance Program Guidelines for exact requirements and deadlines required for the proposal. 

3. Please ensure that the members of your committee can attend your presentation on that day.

4. Please forward an electronic copy of your paper to the Academic Events Coordinator who will send an email announcement to the entire department two weeks before the presentation date. This will include the titles of your talk and presentation.

5. The Academic Events Coordinator, will book a room for all proposals. Please coordinate with them and the members of your committee to pick an appropriate time. If the members of your committee cannot be there, please make sure they can participate via Zoom. If one of your committee members cannot participate on the set dates, contact the DGS immediately.
    

   

Procedure for Dissertation Defense

1. The student must receive approval from their dissertation committee to (i) proceed with the dissertation defense; and (ii) the date/time of the dissertation defense.

2. At least two weeks before the date of your defense, please send the following information to PhD Program Director, Susan Jackman:

  • · Scheduled date, time, and location (room number) for your defense
  • · Title of dissertation
  • · List of committee members, noting who your chair is

3. After obtaining approval from the dissertation committee, and at least one week before the dissertation defense date, the student must give an electronic copy of the dissertation to the Academic Events Coordinator.

4. The Academic Events Coordinator, will book a room for the dissertation defense. Please coordinate with them and the members of your committee to pick an appropriate time well in advance (at least two weeks prior to the desired date).

5. The Academic Events Coordinator will send an email announcement to the entire department one week before the dissertation defense.
