Information for Northwestern Students
Northwestern undergraduate students who meet the following eligibility requirements may submit an online application for admission to the program:
Maintain status as an undergraduate student in Northwestern University.
Complete specific quantitatively-oriented
prerequisite courses
.
Admission to the program is competitive; approximately 50 students are accepted per certificate, per year. Acceptance is based on student’s grades, personal essay and letter of recommendation from a Northwestern faculty member.
While program admission is competitive, the acceptance rate tends to be fairly high -- between 70 and 80% -- because of the specialized nature of the required prerequisite courses. The middle 50% of students admitted to the MA and FE certificates have prerequisite GPAs between 3.2 and 3.9.
We accept applications from both sophomores and juniors, but we encourage students to apply during their sophomore year, if possible, to allow for increased flexibility in class scheduling. In general, about 70 percent of students apply for the program during their sophomore year; the remaining apply as juniors.
Information for High School Students
The program does not accept applications from high school seniors, students attending other universities, or other individuals who are not currently undergraduate students at Northwestern University.
