About the 2015 Computational Social Science Summit

The 2015 Computational Social Science Summit is being convened by the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, co-organized by NICO and SONIC and is sponsored by Facebook, the NSF, the Sloan Foundation, and Syndio. This first annual summit is being hosted by the Kellogg Architectures of Collaboration Initiative (KACI), directed by Brian Uzzi, Richard L. Thomas Professor of Leadership and Organizational Change and KACI Faculty Director.

This conference merges into one, three conferences held in the San Francisco Bay area last year in conjunction with the American Sociological Association’s Annual Meeting.

• Facebook’s Digital Demography conference - https://www.facebook.com/DigitalDemography2014 - Digitizing Demography is a collaborative conference between academia and industry about how digitization is effecting social demographic research
• Datathon - http://asa-datathon.github.io/ An intense 24-hour workshop that asks researchers to do their best to turn information into knowledge. It’s a format modeled after hackathons. The difference is that datathons use research questions and datasets to advance knowledge, not to launch apps.
