Instructor Support to "Operations Strategy: Principles and Practice"

I maintain this site to support instructors with their teaching using our Operations Strategy textbook, some chapters, or cases (to adopt individual cases or chapters, email permissions@vanmieghem.us).

To make this work well, I have two requests to you who uses any of these support materials:

  1. Please do not share your passwords. The site is password protected to prevent student access. (Unfortunately, Northwestern University requires us to change passwords about every 100 days, so I will have to send you new passwords periodically.)
  2. Please share any suggestions or improvements you have. For example, it would be great to have a cooperative mechanism where we all share exam questions. If anyone has a good idea how to set this up in an incentive-compatible manner, let me know.

These are my most recent slides. They were taught in Winter quarter 2018 for two sections of my elective during the day. Class met 20 times, twice per week, for 1.5 hours per session = 30 hours contact time.

The slides with _JVM in the file name contain my full teaching plan (including examples, hints, questions to ask and answers) in the "notes" section of the Powerpoint slides. Please do not share this deck with any students. I no longer have a syllabus in Word; everything now is in Canvas and my syllabus there is publicly visible. If you can't access it, the basic structure follows this syllabus document that I share with students before bidding (but it is not detailed/maintained).

These are my most recent slides for a night class, which meets 10 times, once per week, for 3 hours per session (including a 15 min break) = 30 hours contact time (minus 3hour break).

This Winter 2009 quarter, I am teaching one section of my Operations Strategy elective during the evening. I will add materials as I update my teaching this quarter. Slides come in two versions:

These are my most recent slides for a day class, which meets 20 times, twice per week, for 1.5 hours per session: total = 30 hours contact time. Slides come in three versions:

  2. Hardcopy handouts: the actual hardcopy handouts distributed to students in class.
  3. Student slides: these are the sanitized Powerpoints that students can download. They are instructor slides with deleted notes and deleted case solutions.
  4. Note that these slides are for my current Fall 2007 class which meets twice a week for 1.5 hours per session. Total is 20 sessions and 30 hours of contact time. Fall 2007 syllabus.
