Executive Education's COVID-19 Safety Plans

Updated August 18, 2021

Kellogg Executive Education will resume our on-campus programs for Executive Education at our campuses in Evanston and Chicago, Illinois on September 9, 2021. Based on guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), as well as university, government, and health entities, we have carefully established protocols designed to promote a healthy environment for our faculty, staff, participants and visitors.

Participants in our classroom programs will be required to be fully vaccinated OR complete COVID-19 testing prior to arrival and during course of the program. Currently, we are also requiring everyone on campus to wear a mask in all indoor, public places on campus, except while actively eating or drinking.

We will continue to monitor all CDC guidelines and may adjust our requirements if conditions change. Please review this page and the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) before your arrival on campus for more details and any additional updates. If you have questions, please contact Kellogg at execed@kellogg.northwestern.edu.

This page will be the one source for information regarding COVID-19 safety measures in place while attending programs on our Chicago and Evanston campuses.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the health requirements to attend an on-campus Executive Education Program?

A participant will need to provide a proof of vaccination OR agree to submit to COVID-19 testing prior to arrival on campus, upon arrival and at three-day intervals during the program. Your Program Manager will provide specific information on the simple process to upload your vaccination information.

Which vaccines are acceptable?

All vaccinations that have been approved by the CDC are acceptable. The final shot of the vaccination series must have been completed at least two weeks prior to arrival.

What are the requirements for testing if I am unvaccinated or chose not to provide vaccination status?

Participants must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test that was done not more than 72 hours prior to arrival on campus. The participant is responsible for the cost of this test. Subsequently, the participant must administer and submit proof of a negative rapid test when they arrive on campus. The test kit will be provided by Kellogg at no charge to the participant. Additional testing will be required on the third day of a program that is longer than three days in duration. Any positive test result will prohibit the participant from attending the program. The Program Manager will provide information on the simple process to upload your test results.

Which tests are acceptable?

Participants may submit an approved PCR or Rapid test. If a participant has a positive Rapid test after arriving on campus, they will be required to have a confirming PCR test at a local Northwestern clinic. A participant with a positive COVID-19 test prior to arrival on campus will not be permitted to attend the program. If a participant has a positive Rapid test and a positive confirming PCR test after arrival on campus, the individual will not be permitted to continue in the program. Any additional expenses incurred due to a positive test, including the PCR test, are the sole responsibility of the individual.

Do I need to wear a mask everywhere on campus?

Kellogg faculty, staff and Executive Education participants are required to wear a mask, regardless of vaccine status, in all indoor, public places on campus except while eating and drinking. If you are staying at the Allen Center, you may remove your mask in your private bedroom. If you are staying at a local hotel, you will be required to adhere to the masking policies of the hotel.

Faculty who are fully vaccinated and who are teaching in-person may do so without a mask, provided they maintain appropriate distancing.

How far in advance do I need to submit my vaccination or testing documents?

We request that vaccination status is submitted 14 days prior to the program for vaccination information. The pre-arrival COVID-19 test result should be provided at least 12 hours prior to arrival.

What are the vaccination requirements for Kellogg faculty and staff?

Northwestern University requires vaccination for all faculty, staff and enrolled students on campus. Any exceptions to the policy require University approval. Any outside vendors on campus are required to comply with the University’s masking requirement and their company’s health and safety requirements.
