Kellogg Alumni Club of New York

The Kellogg Alumni Club of New York offered a variety of thought leadership and social events to the New York-area alumni community in the second half of 2017.

Our fall programming kicked off with an engaging talk by Professor Mitchell Petersen: “Where to Keep a Trillion Dollars: Cash, Taxes and Washington, D.C.” This timely lunchtime discussion was well received by a sold-out crowd. With a continued focus on ensuring career success, Matthew Temple ’93 offered a morning workshop on “Power Onboarding: Your First 100 Days in a New Role.” The workshop offered practical advice and tools to help during a transition to a new job. He also offered one-on-one career coaching sessions following his program to assist in personalizing the approach. The New York TG Welcoming the Class of 2017 was enthusiastically attended by over 60 alumni. The new class was warmly welcomed to the New York area and a good time was had by all. As a continuation of the Creativity & Idea Generation Series led by Jo Thorogood ’93, a Positioning Workshop was held to cover positioning principles and share tools and tips. This highly interactive workshop was well received by the participants. “Intentional Leadership” with Professor Bernie Banks ’08 focused on how to best accelerate leadership development and provide insights gleaned from cutting-edge research. Beth Korn ’92, Kellogg alumni career coach, introduced Professor Banks and offered private coaching sessions as a follow-up. The annual holiday party was once again held at the Institute of Culinary Education and was sold out again despite doubling last year’s capacity. ICE’s longtime CEO and Kellogg alum Rick Smilow ’84 was a gracious host. Rick’s facility was an ideal location for the holiday party and the food and drink were outstanding.
