Professor Mike Mazzeo and an alumni panel discuss different ways companies can grow

3/20/2015 - Opportunities abound when it comes to growth, according to Associate Professor of Strategy Mike Mazzeo and an alumni panel in New York. You just have to know where to look.

Sometimes, that means finding opportunities that have inherent economies of scale, says Mazzeo, author of Roadside MBA: Backroad Lessons for Executives, Entrepreneurs and Small Business Owners.

In other instances, it’s leveraging the capability you already have and finding a “growth engine” that can continually power growth, says Strategy& Senior Vice President Paul Leinwand ’98.

“I’d much rather have an engine of growth than just a random one-hit wonder,” Leinwand said. “It’s the way you escape that endless search of where’s the next growth going to come from.”

Mazzeo and Leinwand, along with LendKey Chief Revenue Officer Brad Kime ’86 and MidOcean Partners COO and Managing Director Debbie Hodges ’95, continued the conversation during a panel discussion on growth at the Kellogg Insight Live event March 16.
