| The Leadership
Game
All 1Y MBA
students, as part of their self-development project, are invited
to participate in the Leadership Game.
The Leadership
Game is a simulated game that will enable the participants
to discover their abilities to manage, to trade, and to compete
in the marketplace while having fun and making money. After
completing the game participants will receive confidential
personalized feedback that highlights their individual attitudes
in the market place. These attitudes have been linked to success
in several studies. We will also provide an overview of the
research in this area.
The short
term goals for the participants are: (1) to teach them how
to assess their personal characteristics, (2) how personal
characteristics affect the participant’s interaction
in economic situations. Each participant will receive an individualized
confidential report about her or his strength and weaknesses
vis-à-vis the market place.
The long
term goals of the project are to improve the understanding
of how some individual characteristics are correlated with
each other, and what skills and characteristics predict success.
In this research the information collected will be used in
such a manner that information about individual participants
will not be identifiable.
Only 1Y
MBA students are allowed to participate. The Northwestern
University Institutional Review Board requires that each student
participating sign a consent form. This consent form is meant
to inform the participants about the procedure to protect
the confidentiality of the data and the right of the participants
to withdraw from the project. For more information about the
consent form click here.
The
study has been sponsored by the John Templeton Foundation and the Zell
Center for Risk Research. These foundations are interested
in financing groundbreaking research on business education.
