Much of your fundamental knowledge of finance will be built in classrooms as we teach you the mechanics, the logic, and the intuition of finance in the fundamental courses. In the advanced finance courses, we will dig deeper in to specific areas of finance, build a deeper logical structure, and construct a more subtle understanding of the issues that arise in finance and business decisions. Not all of what you need to know can be learned in a standard classroom setting.

There are dimensions of finance which I think are essential to your learning, but are not well taught in a traditional classroom setting. Thus, I view the student finance clubs as another method of teaching you what I want you to know before leaving Kellogg. The clubs provide educational opportunities at lunch and over the dinner hour. The clubs bring in speakers and conduct panels that will compliment your classroom education. The clubs are run by more senior students that have already taken a number of finance classes and often have work experience in the industry. You should tap them for advice on classes, careers, and life. Below are links to the student clubs which focus on finance topics:

Corporate Finance Club. The name is more general than the focus. I view this club as the "CFO" club. This club is targeted toward students interested in pursuing finance careers in non-financial firms. This would include careers in business development and treasury and would include career goals such as CFO and CEO.

Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital (EVC) Club. For students with career aspirations in venture capital or entrepreneurship either immediately after Kellogg or in the longer term.

Fintech@Kellogg Club. For stuents interestd in careers or innovation in FinTech. A hub for human-centered innovations in financial services.

Investment Banking and Capital Market Club. For students with career aspirations in investment banking, including the sell side. Private wealth management is also covered by this club.

Investment Management Club. For students with career aspirations in professional and institutional investment management.

Private Equity Club. For students with career aspirations in private equity or growth equity either immediately after Kellogg or in the longer term.
