Degree Enhancement Program

When you graduate with your Kellogg MBA, you will be equipped with a strong academic background and finely honed practical skills. It has been Kellogg’s philosophy that education and professional development are part of a life-long learning process. We hope that when students graduate from Kellogg they will continue learning. To that end, the Degree Enhancement Program (DEP) allows you to take up to six (6) Kellogg credits, free of charge, in the three academic years following your graduation. It is an excellent opportunity to explore a new interest, pursue an extra major, and develop your skills.

Registration is performed by the Academic Experience Team. Students who have graduated will receive an email communication at their preferred email address on file with the Alumni Office approximately 3-4 weeks prior to the start of the quarter. Students must complete this registration request form, starting on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 12 pm, to indicate their interest in courses based on the quarterly list of available courses.

Please note that two GIM sections are available to DEP students this upcoming quarter (Winter 2026). DEP students interested in the Global Initiatives in Management (GIM) courses for Malaysia and Indonesia (Section 41) with Professor Kashner or Singapore and Thailand (Section 44) with Professor Saraniti should email globalexperience@kellogg.northwestern.edu for more information. The Global Experience will then coordinate with the Registrar for enrollment.

Procedure for Class Enrollment

  • Complete the Registration Holds requirements if you already have an active student record, or as soon as your student record becomes active (you will be notified once your record is activated).
  • Review the Winter 2026 Course Offering List.
  • Complete the Winter 2026 DEP Enrollment Form starting on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 12:00 pm (this registration e-form request will close on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 12:00 pm (Friday of week 1)).

Winter 2026 Quarter Dates

Winter 2026 classes take place from Monday, January 5, 2026, to Saturday, March 14, 2026.

Final Exams will take place from Saturday, March 14, 2026, to Saturday, March 21, 2026.

Important Information

Registration will begin on a first-come, first-served basis no later than November 24, 2025*.

*Please be aware that Fall 2025 graduates cannot be enrolled until degrees have officially been conferred (after December 19th, 2025).

Registration will be processed after all registration holds have been resolved. If you have any unresolved registration holds, your registration request will not be processed.

Upon entry into the Degree Enhancement Program, an Evening & Weekend MBA Program graduate will sign an agreement stating that they will abide by the Kellogg Honor Code and the following program guidelines:

  • Students may begin taking DEP classes the following quarter after the degree is completed and conferred.
  • Courses may be taken during the current academic year in which they complete their degree requirements (if completion occurs prior to summer quarter) and through three academic years following graduation from Kellogg.
  • DEP participants will be allowed to enroll in open-seat classes after all Kellogg degree-seeking students have registered.
  • Students in the DEP program do not participate in the Bidding and Registration process. They will be registered manually by the Academic Experience team, and registration will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • All holds must be cleared from the student record before class registration can occur.
  • Once enrolled in a course, the DEP student must satisfy the same requirements as any other student in the course.
  • DEP students cannot use the Pass/No Credit option.
  • Auditing of courses is not permitted after graduation.
  • The final grade received in the course will be included on the DEP participants’ existing Northwestern University transcript and cumulative grade point average. As a result, courses taken with the Degree Enhancement Program can be used to satisfy requirements for additional majors to the participant’s MBA.
  • Any DEP student who drops a course between the 3rd and 10th week of any class will forfeit their opportunity to register for any future courses offered in the program.
  • Kellogg reserves the right to withdraw a student from the program at any time.
  • Kellogg will evaluate the Degree Enhancement Program on an annual basis and reserves the right to change or cancel the program at any time.
  • For students wishing to complete a major through the DEP program, please reach out to the Academic Experience Team after all grades have been recorded for relevant courses. An audit will be conducted, and the major will be added to their record if requirements are met.
