TMP 2002

After several years with Krispy Kreme Donuts, Marty Smith has taken a position as a financial planner with Capital Point Financial Group in Glenview, Ill. Bharat Kaker has announced his engagement. Dan Cahill is going to Europe for two months. Mitch Tobias is now back at Caterpillar. Richard Alvarez is moving to a new house in Itasca, Ill., still with Pfizer. Elgin Thompson is still in New York, but moved to Merrill Lynch.

After completing school, Kevin Huval took a job as CEO of a risk management consultancy. He says: "It was a turnaround situation, which served as a fantastic capstone to my Kellogg MBA. The shareholders ultimately decided to let the firm 'die on the vine,' so I was off looking for other opportunities. Through Mitch Tobias, (who was with Brunswick at the time), I learned of a position in strategy and business development at Brunswick's Mercury Marine division. I started in June 2003 and have been involved in many cool projects, most of which involve M&A."

Corey Billups and wife Laura recently became proud parents with the birth of Madeline Ruth. Corey remains working at Calyon Corporate and Investment Bank, which is a new name representing the merger of the corporate and investment banking operations of Credit Lyonnais and Credit Agricole. Recently promoted to director, Corey is the head of the automotive group for the Americas.

As for myself, I took a position with Aon's financial services group here in Chicago at the start of 2004. I am brokering directors' and officers' insurance and finding out first-hand what happens when the corporate governance lessons we learned at Kellogg break down.

I am hoping that people continue to write me (even when I don't ask for Kellogg World inputs)and send updates on what they are doing. I will pass them along to others in our class. For those of you who get down to the Loop, give me a call sometime and I'll buy lunch. Cheers, Tiny
