EMP-37

Hello, EMP-37. Lloyd Everard reports the following: "Some news from my home front: I was promoted this month to director of human resources for North America for Textron Fastening Systems. I now have responsibility for 17 manufacturing sites in the States, Mexico and Canada. The combined revenue of these plants is $1 billion. Prior to this I had one half of North America for Textron Fastening Systems.

"On the social scene, Tom Wennogle came to Chicago on business, and he and I got together and shared a few drinks and solved world problems. On the family scene, all is well. My two oldest are in college. Ben is a junior at the University of Miami, majoring in political science and economics. He is attending on an academic scholarship. My daughter, Brooke, is a sophomore at Clemson College, majoring in elementary education. My youngest is a sophomore in high school in Crystal Lake." Lloyd's new email address is LEverard@TFS.Textron.com.

In July, Silicon Valley Bancshares, the parent company of Silicon Valley Bank, announced the appointment of Dave Webb as chief information officer. Dave is responsible for aligning information technology efforts with the company's business strategy and further building its infrastructure as the company expands its physical presence internationally. Dave reports that things are going extremely well in his new position and that he is settling into a new routine after his recent relocation to the Bay Area. Dave's email is davecwebb@msn.com.

Art Handman writes: "Not a lot to report, but Pam, John, and I are settled into the St. Louis-Chesterfield area and enjoyed the cooler than normal Midwestern summer. We also took a Western vacation this year, returning to Newport Beach for a very nice "beach week" that we plan to make an annual event. John is starting his last year of preschool; it will be kindergarten next year. It has also been a great summer to NOT be living in Florida. Work is going well; the same hurricanes that have made it not good to be in Florida have sold a lot of Energizer batteries and flashlights." Reach Art at art.handman@energizer.com.

Cliff Sladnick was named managing director in June of Dresner Companies, a full-service, mid-market investment bank. He heads the company's acquisition advisory practice.

Your humble class rep had a great time again in Washington State at the end of the summer. We got back just in time for the kids' first day in their new school, Greeley Elementary in Winnetka, Ill. Sam is in fourth grade, Ray is in second and Anna is in kindergarten. Boy, how time flies. It seems like only yesterday when I was working on homework in Bala Balachandran's class, and Leigh and I rushed to Evanston Hospital so Ray could be born. Thanks for staying in touch.
