The Kellogg Alumni Club of New York (KACNY) offered a variety of thought leadership and social events to the New York alumni community in the second half of 2016. The following are several club events featuring alumni industry experts.

In collaboration with the Columbia GSB and NYU Stern School of Business, the Next Generation of Global Marketing panel discussed the new normal of global marketing and what it will take to thrive in this new environment. The panel featured Kellogg alumni Michelle Greenwald ’77, Jenny Fernandez ’05 and Ukonwa Ojo ’05.

KACNY’s Entrepreneurial Committee unveiled a Startup Kit Series with modules focused on key topics related to launching a new business. The sessions are set in a panel discussion format led by industry leaders in a forum that encourages networking. The sessions, Funding for Startups, Recruiting for Talent and a demo night featuring founders of top Fintech startups were very well received.

This past fall, Jo Thorogood ’93 explored the approaches to generating great names for brands, products or events at the Club’s Naming Workshop: Creativity & Idea Generation. The group brainstormed a new name for a Hispanic strategy consulting firm founded by Sandra Diaz ’97. This highly interactive workshop, hosted by Navigant’s Managing Director Mark Kornbluth ’92, boosted creativity and was well received by those in attendance.

The sold-out holiday party was held at the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE). ICE’s long-time CEO and Kellogg alum Rick Smilow ’84 was a gracious host. Rick’s facility was an ideal location for the holiday party and the food and drink were outstanding. It was a wonderful way to cap off 2016 with such a memorable event.
