  IC2S2Northwestern Hosts 450 Attendees at 2018 IC2S2 Conference
From July 12-15, 2018, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University hosted the 4th Annual International Conference on Computational Social Science (IC2S2). NICO was honored to be an institutional partner for this event, which drew over 450 attendees to Evanston from around the world and was livestreamed to many more. NICO Research JamNICO Hosts First Research Jam and Data Science Research Day
NICO hosted two new events in May and June of 2018. The Research Jam was created as a transdisciplinary research event for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to brainstorm innovative approaches to big research questions. Data Science Research Day was a half-day symposium involving a series of lightning talks, panel discussion, a wearable poster activity, and meet-and greet-sessions.

Microgrids SymposiumSymposium Examines Role of Microgrids in Sustainable Development
Experts from academia, government, and business gathered for Northwestern’s Symposium on Microgrids in April 2018 to discuss both the feasibility and difficulties of creating independent, sustainable power sources in places around the world. NICO was a sponsor of this thought provoking event along with the Buffett Institute and the McCormick School of Engineering.
