First Class Assignment
Prior to the first class, you should:
- Review the syllabus. The syllabus is in your packet. You may also download it from the Web. An electronic version of most of the files from you packet are also available on Canvas (the ones that we have permission to post electronically).
- Familiarize yourself with the Corporate Finance Web Page. The web page will be a source of up-to-date information about this course and a source for the files needed to complete some of the course assignments.
- Read the Berk and DeMarzo chapters for the first class.
- Compete Quiz 1. Since we meet only five times I want to be sure we hit the ground running. This assignment is due prior to our first class. It is material that I need you to be familiar with prior to class. It is a set of calculations. I find these can be intimidating until you have done them on your own. You should work on the quizzes individually. If you need help, you can rely on your group mates or me. You are welcome to ask questions on the course discussion group (on Canvas).
You will find that the class proceeds at a very rapid pace. If you are not prepared, you will become hopelessly lost very quickly. You will find an outline for each lecture in your packet. You should bring the relevant lecture outline to each class. In the first lecture, I will provide you with an overview of the course. We will also discuss what is meant by an efficient market and why this matters -- or does not matter -- to the financial decision maker of a firm. You should be prepared to contribute to this discussion.
