John Palmer '90 at wedding

John Palmer '90 enjoyed the presence of many classmates at his wedding to Mary last year. Attendees included classmates Martha Stuart '90, Andy Mallinger '90, David Froelich '90 and Ellen (Taschioglou) Parsons '97. Back row, Eric Warner '90, Kelley (Ryan) Warner '90, Laura (Graham) Ford '91 and Andy Ford '91, Ginny (Blissert) Bachman '90 and Reed Webster '91. Middle row, Geni Burke '90, Rob Cappucci '90, Hope Wintner '91, Anne (Rice) Engel '89, Mark Engel '89 and Julie Mazman '91 in the front row. John and Mary can be identified as the handsome, happy couple in the midst of it all.

1990

I've heard from many of you about the upcoming reunion. Sounds as though we have great momentum and our 15th will be really well-attended! If you haven't already, make plans to be in Evanston the weekend of April 29-May 1.

I was happy to hear from Charlie Brown (Charles.Brown@oldcastlematerials.com). He's moved to D.C. with his beautiful children, where he is vice president of finance for Oldcastle Materials. He writes: "My last communication with Kellogg was, well, a lifetime ago. In the past year I have gotten divorced, changed jobs and moved my two children to the suburbs of Washington, D.C. My daughter Haley is now 10, enjoying fifth grade and challenging my ideas of appropriate dress code. My son Mason is 8, in second grade, and is just as challenging. In Washington I have found the love of my life, returned to the sport of my youth and reunited with friends from college. I have retained my love of country music, born of living seven years in Alabama, but have traded in my old F150 for an Explorer and find myself talking somewhat faster. Being back in D.C. is great because people actually visit you here, as opposed to Birmingham, Ala; Shelly, N.C.; or Pittsburgh, Pa. I saw Craig Stinebaugh and his family this spring, and Shaila and Jacquie (Adair) Bettadapur this summer."

Speaking of the Bettadapurs, they wrote from the Republic of Singapore mostly to say they were far from harm's way when the tsunami hit. In a letter dated prior to Dec. 26, Jacquie wrote: "We returned to the States this summer for four weeks for the first time since the summer of '01. We had a great time covering the country from east to west. Although we've been reading about it, we were a little shocked at the relative 'expansiveness' of our compatriots, which either has increased since we've been gone or we are only just now noticing it. Of course, this doesn't apply to anyone reading this letter. We took the kids to Williamsburg and Monticello, walked around the University of Virginia, spent a few days in Indianapolis visiting with our brand-new niece, and then in Denver with some old friends. From there, we went to Jackson Hole and Yellowstone. The flight took 90 minutes, but getting the luggage took two hours because the lone baggage handler went to lunch. So there we were, the riffraff standing with the beautiful people, like Ralph Lauren (No, he was not wearing a Polo shirt, but Shaila was wearing a fake one from Indonesia.). We spent three days at Yellowstone, before going to Reno, Napa and Lake Tahoe, where, after agonizing for what seemed like several minutes, we bought a condo. An impulse buy — an expensive impulse buy — but in principle, not that much different from impulse-buying shoes or handbags. But this was different because it was Shaila's impulse and so, naturally, justifiable. Anyway, we now have a place at Tahoe, in very close range of the golf course, ski resorts, the lake and a variety of bars. You should find Jacquie and the kids there this summer (at the condo, not the bars)."

Nice to hear from Scott Soifer, who wrote a quick note: "I have taken a new position as the vice president of marketing and development for IntegraMed America, a physician practice management company that serves the infertility sector. We have a network of 25 of the top fertility centers across the United States, representing more than 20 percent of all in-vitro fertilization cycles performed annually. We work with the physicians to provide financial, IT, HR and marketing services to their practices, enabling them to focus on care. My job is to help them grow their practices locally through the marketing of their clinics, as well as through growing the IntegraMed brand nationally. I am also charged with growing our network by recruiting the top fertility centers in their respective geographic regions. I hope you wish me luck. I can't be more excited about building on my existing experience in the healthcare industry with this provider-side entrepreneurial opportunity. My new contact information is below. I am completely swamped — in a good way!" Reach Scott at 914.251.4186 (office), or by email at scott.soifer@integramed.com.

David Jehn recently accepted the position of director of North American planning at United Airlines. David writes: "This is a big change for my family after six years living in Auckland, New Zealand, and working for Air NewZealand. My wife Cheryl and I have three kids: Zachary, 9; Alexandra, 7; and Nathanael; 5.

Tim Staub writes: "After spending 14 years moving between industries, companies, jobs and countries, my wife Joanie and I have finally settled in her hometown of Richmond, Va. We acquired a local manufacturing company in October and are using our MBAs (hers is Olin '92) to grow the company."

Hope life is treating each of you well. I look forward to seeing you at the reunion!
