Michael
D. Sharkey has been elected chairman of the Commercial
Finance Association, the trade group of the asset-based financial
services industry. In November 2003, Michael was elected president
of the organization, assuming responsibility for developing
and overseeing the CFA's strategic direction and managing
the committee election process. In his newly expanded role,
he will also be responsible for encouraging industry growth
through association activities, and undertaking innovative
leadership cultivation for future CFA board leaders and association
members. Michael is president and chief executive officer
of LaSalle Business Credit LLC.
Stella
and Spyros Kapsalis, along with their 2-year-old daughter Litsa, welcomed
a new addition to the household when daughter Madeleine was
born in November. Spyros is an executive vice president with
Jones Lang LaSalle.
Karen
Lanfranki writes that
she and her family are well. She and husband Tom have changed
jobs several times, searching for the "perfect opportunity,"
but have finally realized there is no "perfect"
or "long-term" employer. It's a lifetime job to
network and stay employable. I think a lot of us can relate
to that story! Karen is currently working at Wells Fargo Bank
in the San Francisco/Oakland area. She reports that she saw
a half-page notice in the Contra Costa Times about Lucretia
Weiner, who was recognized as a ChevronTexaco United Way
leader. Congratulations, Lucretia.
Meg
McGee, now Meg Marion,
and new husband Mike welcomed their first and only child in
April 2002. As a result, Meg left her position as vice president
of marketing with a Sara Lee division in an attempt to achieve
a better balance of work and family. She formed a corporation
in February 2004, invested in a franchise called The Entrepreneur's
Source, and now helps individuals explore self-employment
as a career alternative. Meg loves helping people pursue their
dreams of self-employment and has experienced early success.
Her business Web address is TheEsource.com/MMarion.
Lisa
Tracy and Scott Jenkins
report in their annual Christmas letter that all is well with
the Jenkins household. Like a lot of us, Lisa and Scott are
not only busy professionally, but also with all their kids'
(Marina and Tracy) activities. Similarly Mary Schwartz and husband Mark also report in their holiday letter
that "things are about the same as last year." Their
children, Alex and Kyle, are also busy and keep mom and dad
on the move!
Carol
and Jan-Peter
Onstwedder are still
finding time to travel — they spent Christmas on an
amazing South African tour. However, I think their most exciting
piece of news is Jan-Peter's newest toy — a Maserati.
Talk about a good stress reliever. Kind of puts my minivan
to shame.
That's
all the news I've heard. By now you all have received information
about our 20th (how can that be?) reunion. Great plans are
in the works. I hope to see all of you in Evanston the weekend
of April 29-May 1.
