Mission
& Activities The
Center’s purpose is to champion research into business
strategy at the Kellogg School. Currently it does this in
two ways. First, it provides ongoing support for the Strategy Department’s seminar series. This backing
supplements the Department’s regular budget, and allows
the Department to arrange a full schedule of both well known
and up-and-coming researchers. Second, it provides—usually
in the form of matching funds—support for the research
of individual faculty members and Ph.D. students who are investigating
questions that relate to business strategy.
In the
past the Center has most commonly funded data purchases and
research assistance for particular, well defined projects.
It also funds travel grants to Ph.D. students, usually, for
attendance at conferences at which they have been invited
to present a paper.
Finally,
the Center has a special interest in the dynamics
of competition. In addition to research projects in
this
area, it seeks
to support the development of innovative course modules
that enable students to develop a deeper understanding
of how industries develop dynamically and how firms’ strategies
both affect and cope with this uncertain evolution. For further information, please contact Mark
