Kellogg Wins the HBS Fall Classic
10/30/2007 - Last weekend, the Kellogg volleyball team placed 1st in the Harvard Business School’s Fall Volleyball Classic Tournament for the third consecutive year. The team is now 4-0 in inter-MBA play. This year’s HBS tournament included teams from Harvard, Wharton, MIT-Sloan, and Chicago GSB as well as Kellogg. Kellogg was 3-1 in pool play, yet advanced through the playoffs without dropping a set. Kellogg ultimately faced off and won against Chicago GSB in the championship match.
The team’s success was a result of great teamwork and coordination that improved as the day wore on. Nam Ong served as setter, smartly distributing sets and finding the open hitter when it counted most. Joe Danon stepped up to provide smart and effective strong side hitting, while Pete Tsai, normally an outside hitter, adjusted well to the middle blocker position. Rookie Keely Polczynski secured consecutive points as a result of her strong serving. Veterans Gordon Redzic and Brian Isleib continued their momentum from last year, dominating at the net with effective blocking and hitting.
