Associate Professor Niko Matouschek named Professor of the Year
The professor credits Kellogg’s unique environment with encouraging excellence in both research and teaching

For Niko Matouschek, teaching Kellogg students is a privilege.And for his students, the pleasure of learning from this associate professor of management and strategy is all theirs.
On June 1, Kellogg’s graduating Full-Time and Part-Time students named Matouschek the 2012L.G. Lavengood Outstanding Professor of the Year.
In his acceptance speech, Matouschek praised the unique environment at Kellogg, where faculty members can excel at teaching while advancing their fields of interest through research. Acknowledging the caliber of the five other award finalists, he said, “I know how good the other guys are, so I don’t know how I won it or why I won it, but I don’t want to give it back!”
Matouschek joined the Kellogg faculty in 2001. He received the Sidney J. Levy Teaching Award for teaching excellence in Kellogg elective classes in 2005.
The other finalists included:
- Tim Calkins, clinical professor of marketing
- Daniel Diermeier, the IBM Professor of Regulation and Competitive Practice and professor of Managerial Economics and Decision Sciences
- Aharon Ofer, visiting professor of finance
- Steven Rogers, the Gordon and Llura Gund Family Clinical Professor of Entrepreneurship
- Derek Rucker, associate professor of marketing and the Richard M. Clewett Research Professor
