Cap and Gown and appropriate attire
Can someone else pick up my cap and gown?
What should I wear?
Some students dress very casually because they will be wearing robes during the ceremony. Others dress in business casual attire because they plan to take photos and will be going out to dinner afterwards. We recommend that you dress in light clothing -- the robes can be quite warm.
What should my family members wear?
We suggest that you let your family and friends know that it can be quite warm the day of the ceremony. That said, they should dress with weather and comfort in mind. Business casual attire – for example, dress pants and a shirt for men and a dress for women – is appropriate.
Processional instructions and the ceremony
How do the students line up for the convocation procession?
Students will line up alphabetically in Trienen Hall at 4:00 p.m. for the procession.
If I have a difficult name to pronounce, how will the deans know how to pronounce it properly?
If you have not already done so, please record the pronunciation of your name in the on-line Student Directory. This may be accomplished using your laptop, and instructions can be found here.
I am having problems locating a hotel for my family. Where should I look?
Many schools in Chicago hold their graduation ceremonies at the same time, so hotels tend to fill up early. See our hotels page for some recommendations.
Lockers and mailboxes
When should I clean out my student locker and mailbox and turn in my key? (Full-Time students only)
Lockers and student mailboxes must be cleaned out by 5:00 p.m. Friday June 20, 2014. Any items left behind in lockers and/or mailboxes will be discarded. There will be donation bins placed near the locker areas for unwanted items. If you have forgotten your locker combination, stop by the Kellogg Student Affairs Office to be "reminded" of it. Turn in your building key to Student Affairs.
