Do I need tickets for the Kellogg Convocation at 5:00 P.M.?
No. There is no limit on the number of people you may invite.

How do I get tickets for the commencement at 9:30 a.m.?
If you’re planning to attend the Northwestern University commencement at 9:30 a.m., please contact Carole Cahill.

Cap and Gown

Custom purple rental gowns are the regalia standard and must be worn by all participating candidates.
  • Cap and gown are designed for Northwestern and feature the University crest.
  • Tassels feature the Northwestern seal signet and are worn on the left side at all times.
  • Candidates may not alter or decorate their regalia in any way or wear additional articles not directly related to academic merit. Doing so may interfere with your ability to participate.
  • Advanced degree candidates wear hoods.
    • The lining of the Northwestern hood is purple and gold, and the color of the velvet border of the hood is acorn.
  • Kellogg's tassels are acorn colored.

All degree candidates may retain their cap and keepsake tassel.

How to Order
Caps and Gowns may be ordered through the Herff Jones website beginning Wednesday, March 1, 2017.

THE DEADLINE FOR STUDENT REGALIA ORDERS IS: FRIDAY, MAY 19, 2017

The rental fee is $60 cash (cap, gown and hood).

Cap and Gown Pickup
Please note that you must pick up your cap and gown at the location you selected when you placed your order. Someone else may pick up my cap and gown as well.

Evanston Pickup

Pick up at Norris on Wednesday, June 14
Backup day: Thursday, June 15 between 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Chicago Pickup

Pick up at Wieboldt Hall during the following times:
Monday, June 12 - 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday, June 13 - 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday, June 14 - 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Thursday, June 15 - 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Evening & Weekend students traveling in for graduation:
If these pickup times do not work for you, please contact Kerry Van Malderghem.

Late Orders - Please contact Helen LeDonne as soon as possible. You will need to pick up your cap and gown at Norris on Wednesday, June 14 between 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. There is a $20 additional fee totaling $88.63 for late orders- cash only.

Diplomas

If participating in the ceremony:
You will receive your diploma after you have exited the stage. If you are completing your degree requirements at the end of Summer Quarter 2017, your diploma will be mailed to you at a later date after the summer quarter ends. Additional information will be sent at that time.
  • Full time students & Evening/Weekend Students
    In order to graduate in Spring 2017, you should have already completed the application for degree form which also notes how you would like your name to appear on your diploma and in the graduation program. If you have not yet completed the application for degree, please email Kellogg-registrar@kellogg.northwestern.edu as soon as possible.

If you are not participating in the ceremony:
If you have not picked up your diploma by the end of the week following the ceremony and have not specified an address, it will be mailed to the permanent address on file.

Pronunciation of your name at the ceremony:
If you have not already done so, please record the pronunciation of your name in the on-line Student Directory. Professional announcers use this to practice pronouncing your name correctly at the ceremony. This may be accomplished using your laptop, and instructions can be found here.

  2. Order individualized invitations from Herff-Jones on-line.

Photography

A professional photographer from Grad Images will take two photos of each graduate:

  • Prior to entering the stage; and
  • When the graduate shakes the hand of Dean Blount

Color proofs of these photos will be emailed to you within a week after graduation. Enlargements will be available at a reasonable price.

Friends and parents are encouraged to relax in their seats and limit their personal picture taking to before or after the presentation of diplomas.
