TMP 1997

Scott Clayton reports, “After becoming a ‘dot-com casualty,’ I took a job as assistant vice president of financial operations and analysis at MedQuist, the largest medical transcription company in the country. The offer came not a minute too soon, I was unemployed for seven months.” Scott wasn’t alone: we’re glad he got back into the workforce.

Roger Shubert and Elaine Virant, are winding down another summer in Chicago. Elaine has taken a new position with CNA Insurance after being laid off earlier this year from Participate.com. Roger is still with closerlook, a strategic marketing and communications firm located in the River North area.

Stacey Klemp is working at Key Equipment Finance (formerly Leasetec Corp.). “Catherine (20-months-old) is keeping me and David in shape by chasing her around. We have discovered deciphering skills we never knew we had, as Catherine is talking more. David and I vacationed in Boston in August and realized that we do not miss the humidity of the ‘low country.’ We look forward to ski season and hiking this fall in the Rockies.”

Kimberly Caldwell got married to Jay Katsuyama July 6 on the beach in Hermosa Beach,Calif. She is still working for A.T. Kearney in Los Angeles, “although none of the work seems to ever be in L.A.!”

Natalie Williams, her husband Kevin, and their three-year-old son Robin Andrew welcomed Nia Michele Williams on July 20. Nia weighed in at 9 pounds,13 ounces. All are well!

Liz Sears is still living in Washington, D.C. In January, she left the Department of Commerce, where she was a deputy assistant secretary in the International Trade Administration. She started as chief strategy officer with The Carmen Group, a DC-based consulting company that works with public, private and nonprofit sector clients on government relations, public affairs and development consulting.

Stacy Gray reports a couple of major, if dated, changes. She switched jobs two years ago from First Analysis to Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown. “I’m still doing sell-side equity research, focusing on environmental and infrastructure services. I’m glad I’m in an old economy sector right now.” She got married last Sept. 16 to fellow Kellogg alum Mike Devine (TMP 1998) and is now Stacy Devine. “Several Kellogg alums were in the wedding, including: Colleen Killian, Katie Pease, Steve Foutch, and Wally Fikri — plus tons in attendance.”

Sharyle Doherty moved to Ft. Lauderdale to work at corporate headquarters for Ultimate Software and she received a promotion to vice president of product management. She notes, “I’ve traded blizzards for hurricanes!”

Angela (Slocum) Siem and her son, Connor Jakob Siem, welcomed a new addition to their family with Brianna Corin Siem on May 18. All are doing well and reside in Ashburn, Va.

Mary Scott Patronik and her family (husband Tim and sons Andrew and Joseph) recently spent four weeks in France on summer vacation. While much of their time was spent in the Provencal countryside, they also enjoyed a week of cooking and language classes in the Loire Valley and one week in a Parisian apartment. Mary remains a homemaker, anticipating an eventual return to work in an entrepreneurial venture. Tim is now president of a computer reselling firm.

I recently joined some members of the 1996 TMP China/Hong Kong GIM class for brunch in Chinatown. In attendance were fellow alums Jay Mages, Paul Bodine, Jilana Dellal, Victor Lin, Paul’s wife Peggy, and future TMP alum Rebecca Blake (Class of 2002). We all had a great time sharing stories, looking through a photo album from the trip, and starting to plan a 10-year reunion...in China!
