EMP-38

Great news from Mark Pestrak. He and his family welcomed a long-awaited addition to their family --- her name is Karina Elizabeth. She is 5 years old (she had a birthday last March), is healthy and adjusting well to her new family and environment. Mark reports his sons are doing well, and that through his keen powers of observation, children are more adaptable than adults.

We also heard from a long silent EMP classmate. Kelley White reports her family has gone through lots of changes. Kelley sold her interest in CBW to her partners in January and the family moved to Denver. (Is it just me or do we seem to have an EMP movement toward Colorado?) Kelley is currently at home enjoying time with the kids, Brandon (2) and Hayley (6 months). Apparently, taking care of two kids is a lot different than corporate life. She reports they all love Denver.

The PIGs continue to get together on a regular basis. Tom Schwingbeck reports that he's coaching the Florida Marlins (not the real Florida Marlins---these guys are a lot shorter and probably play for the "snacks"). With their 1-2 record, he's hoping to go to the World Series. Seems to me that Tom has a pig-fish theme going. In any case, at a recent PIG outing, we got a pig-ture of the attendees. Mick's a few follicles shy of where he was when we were in school!

Schwing also left me a message yesterday to report a Dick Sturm sighting. Tom was working out and looked over to see Dick ably walking across a balance beam. Go Dick.

Most of us have heard the news that Ian Heller has joined the ranks of EMP entrepreneurs. Since moving to Colorado, Ian started Real Results Marketing. Real Results is based on a belief that marketing is not a soft concept, but a hard-nosed discipline that takes significant expertise and experience to master and apply. To learn more about Ian's company, contact him at 720.565.3071 or via email at ian@realresultsmarketing.com. The company's Web site is www.realresultsmarketing.com.

Mike O'Dell contacted me, and in his understated way, happened to mention that he was recently promoted to senior vice president of retail operations at Sears. I'd like to offer up some praise for Mike ... yeah! Also, a big cheer for Sears' sponsorship of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." Excellent show.

Kevin Ozan assures me he's still with McDonalds, but despite my best efforts, my email messages to him keep bouncing back. His junk mail box is probably full of my emails!

If you know any EMP-38 classmates who are not getting my messages or whose contact information has changed, please let me know. I enjoy hearing from folks and I know other people enjoy hearing about all of you!
