Past Events
Last March the Benelux Club gathered in Antwerpen for a cocktail and dinner party co-organized with the Flanders Business School to honor Dean Jacobs, who was inducted Officer of the Order of Crown. The event attracted dozens of Kellogg and FBS alumni who enjoyed the chance to meet with the dean and expand their networking opportunities. Kellogg students, part of European GIM trip under the Dean’s leadership were also present. They stayed three days in Belgium to visit European institutions and corporations. The club also generated extensive media interest among journalists eager to interview the “Dean of Deans.”

On June 7, we hosted a lunch roundtable titled “Riding the Dot-Com Wave: From War Stories to Success Stories,” featuring David Schnall, founder and managing director of electronic purchasing services provider Bobex.com (www.bobex.com) and Kurt Staelens, founder of online book and music purveyor Proxis.be www.proxis.be.

Kurt and David shared the inside scoop on the conception, launch and management of two of Europe’s successful dot-com businesses. Moderating and adding additional perspective was Salvino Salvaggio, PhD of McKinsey, who himself has founded three Internet start-ups and who writes and lectures broadly on e-business.

Upcoming Events
Sept. 21 Special Annual Event — Maximum Drive. This year’s special event of the Benelux Kellogg Club will open the doors of a restricted facility, the European Test Track of Ford Group. About 50 alumni of the Benelux Club, other European Clubs, Insead, Harvard, Chicago and Vlerick will have a chance to test-drive on four different tracks — under professional instruction and supervision — brand new cars of the Ford Group (Ford, Jaguar, Volvo, Range Rover, Aston Martin). This will be pure fun as well as the chance to become a better driver thanks to professional tips on techniques like: controlling skidding, emergency breaking, ideal driving position and off-road driving.

A lunch and a follow-up TG are included. Partners and children are welcome. Attendance is limited on a first-come, first-served basis. Special Kellogg price : †90 for drivers, †25 for non-drivers. Pre-book now by sending an e-mail to Melissa Dagenhart at mdagenha@landrover.com.

Oct. 25 Chicago Blues Joint Event with Chicago GSB. Details to follow. For more information contact René Brisson renebrisson@hotmail.com.
