Applying for Financial Aid

Both merit and financial need based scholarships are awarded at the time of admission.  Financial aid materials submitted will be considered for student loan eligibility.  To apply, please follow the instructions below. US citizens and permanent residents are eligible to borrow funds from the Federal Direct Loan Program.  Private education loan programs are available for all students, including international citizens.  For more information on the different loan options available to students, please review the Loan Types section of this website.

The last day to apply for financial aid assistance for the current 2017-2018 aid year was May 4th, 2018.  For assistance with completing the application materials for the upcoming 2018-2019 aid year, please download the 2018-2019 Tips for Completing the Kellogg Financial Aid Process (PDF).  

U.S. Citizen & Permanent Resident Instructions

  1. Please complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov (Note: When completing your FAFSA, please use school code 001739 for Northwestern University).
  2. Complete and submit the Kellogg Application for Financial Aid via CAESAR: https://caesar.northwestern.edu     Please login to CAESAR and complete the application.  Once in CAESAR, select the Financial Aid tile, then select To Do List from the left hand navigation
