David K. Zwiener (KSM '77) - Keynote Speaker

Most recently, Mr. Zwiener served briefly as Chief Financial Officer at Wachovia Corporation, during late 2008. Prior to that, he was Managing Director and Co-Head of the financial institutions group of the global private equity firm, the Carlyle Group.  Between 2000 and 2007, Mr. Zwiener was President and Chief Operating Officer of the property and casualty operations at Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. In that role, he oversaw one of the ten largest property and casualty insurance companies in the US. He also served as Chief Financial Officer at The Hartford from 1995 - 2001. Mr. Zwiener served as CFO at ITT Financial Corporation (1993 - 1995), and held various financial positions at Heller International, Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Ford Motor Company and Mellon Bank.

Kelly Grier - Keynote Speaker
Chicago Office Managing Partner, Ernst & Young

Kelly J. Grier is the Chicago office managing partner for Ernst & Young LLP. In leading the firm’s second largest US office, Kelly oversees over 1,600 professionals across Ernst & Young’s Assurance, Tax, Advisory and Transaction Advisory service lines.  In this role, Kelly remains focused on providing enriching experiences for employees, high-quality client service and ongoing support to the local community.  She also serves as the coordinating partner for a number of Fortune 500 companies.  Kelly gained extensive international experience by working in Zurich, Switzerland for four years as coordinating partner of the Europe, Middle East and Africa region for a Fortune 10 client.

With 19 years of experience, she previously served as the Midwest Client Service & Accounts Leader where she helped execute Ernst & young’s client service delivery model for 45 of the largest global companies based in the Midwest.  These clients represent 60% of the firm’s revenue in the Midwest region.

Kelly brings significant experience in public equity and debt offerings, acquisitions, divestitures and carve-outs, and has recently been involved in her clients’ assessment of International Financial Reporting Standards.  She is an appointed member of Ernst & Young’s Americas & Global Advisory Councils, as well as Gender Equity Task Force whose influence impacts nearly 15,000 women nationwide.  In addition, Kelly recently served as the Midwest Gender Equity Co-Leader and was responsible for driving mentorship programs and career development opportunities for more than 1,500 women professionals across the region.  She received the 2008 Ernst & Young Rosemarie Meschi Award for her dedication to inclusiveness and gender equity initiatives.  In addition to being named one of the “2007 Women to Watch” by the Illinois CPA Society, Kelly has been featured in Crain’s Chicago Business and the Chicago Tribune.

Active in the Chicago philanthropic community, Kelly is a trustee of the Ravinia Festival Board of Directors and the Children’s Home & Aid Society of Illinois, as well as a director of the Chicago Finance Exchange.  In addition, she was recently appointed by Mayor Richard J. Daley to the Advisory Board of Chicago Career Tech.   Kelly has also served as an executive sponsor for the 2008 Girl Scouts “Camp CEO” – a leadership experience for teen-aged girls.  Kelly was selected as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader in 2010, joining a prestigious list of leaders from all regions of the world who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, professional accomplishments and a commitment to society.

Kelly is a licensed CPA and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Illinois CPA Society.  She received her BA in Accounting from St. Mary’s college in Notre Dame, Indiana.

James Field
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer - Deere & Company

James M. Field is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Deere & Company, a position he has held since June 2009. He is responsible for advising the CEO and division presidents on major financial and strategic growth issues, and for managing Deere & Company's worldwide financial and planning functions. He is also responsible for business planning and development, investor communications, and enterprise information technology.

Field joined Deere & Company in 1994 and has held a number of positions in the areas of accounting, treasury, and business development and planning. Field served as Chief Financial Officer of Deere's former Timberjack Group, responsible for all accounting, finance and treasury functions. He was appointed Comptroller, Deere & Company, in May 2001, and Vice President and Comptroller, Deere & Company, in September 2002. Field was named President, Worldwide Commercial & Consumer Equipment Division in September 2007. Before joining Deere, he served in a number of assignments at Deloitte & Touche.

Field is a 1985 graduate of Western Michigan University, and holds a CPA. He is a member of the Illinois CPA Society and the American Institute of CPA.

William G. Kistner (KSM '73)
Vice President, Internal Audit Northwestern Memorial HealthCare Corporation

Bill was appointed Vice President, Internal Audit in September 2006. Prior to joining Northwestern Memorial Hospital as Tax Director in 2004, he was a tax partner in the Chicago office of Ernst &Young. Mr. Kistner served as the Lake Michigan Area Health Care Tax Industry Leader until 2004. During his career with E&Y he served various health care and association clients such as Advocate Health Care, American Hospital Association, Clarian Health, Illinois Hospital Association, Mayo Foundation and Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

As the Vice President, Internal Audit Bill reports to the Audit Committee of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare Corporation. He oversees all aspects of the Internal Audit function including the overall audit risk assessment process, annual audit work plan and special projects requested by management and the Board of Directors.

Bill is member of the American Institute of CPA’s, the Illinois CPA Society, Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Institute of Internal Auditors. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Loyola and his Masters of Business Administration from the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University.

Harry M. Kraemer (KSM '79) - Moderator
Clinical Professor of Management & Strategy

Harry M. Jansen Kraemer, Jr. is an executive partner with Madison Dearborn, a private equity firm based in Chicago and also a clinical professor of management and strategy at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management in Evanston, Illinois. He is the former chairman and chief executive officer of Baxter International Inc., a $9 billion global healthcare company. He became Baxter's chief executive officer in January 1999, and assumed the additional responsibility of chairman of Baxter's board of directors in January 2000.

Mr. Kraemer is active in business, education and civic affairs. He serves on the board of directors of Science Applications International Corporation and Sirona Dental Systems GmbH, and on the board of trustees of Lawrence University, Northwestern University, the Conference Board and Evanston Northwestern Healthcare.

He is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board of Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, the Dean’s Advisory Board of Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and the Advisory Board of LEK Consulting. He is a member of the Business Council, the Commercial Club of Chicago, the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, the Executives Club of Chicago and the Economics Club of Chicago. He is a past member of the Business Roundtable and the Healthcare Leadership Council.

Thomas E. Werner
Senior Vice President, Finance, and Chief Financial Officer, Hospira

Thomas E. Werner brings nearly 30 years of leadership experience across a broad base of financial disciplines and industries, including healthcare, to his role as senior vice president, Finance, and chief financial officer, Hospira, Inc.

Prior to joining Hospira in August 2006, Werner served as senior vice president, Finance, and chief financial officer of Böwe Bell + Howell, a service, manufacturing and software company that provides document processing and postal solutions. He joined Böwe Bell + Howell in late 2001.

Earlier in his career, Werner was chief financial officer for two publicly traded companies -- Xpedior Incorporated, a software developer and integrator; and uBid, Inc., an e-commerce company -- and served as corporate controller for Gateway, Inc. Werner also held various financial roles at Baxter Healthcare Corporation and American Hospital Supply Corporation.

Werner earned a bachelor's degree in business from the Indiana University and is a certified public accountant. He was born in 1957 and resides in north suburban Chicago.
